By-Laws |
Article 1 |
NAME AND OFFICERS |
Section 1. This
Lodge shall be known by the name of Daylite Lodge No. 44, of Free and Accepted Masons, and
it's officers shall consist of a Master, a Senior Warden, a Junior Warden, a Treasurer, a
Secretary, three Trustees, a Chaplain, a Senior Deacon, a Junior Deacon, a Marshal, two
Stewards, a Tyler, an Organist and such other officers as the Lodge may deem proper to
appoint. |
Article II |
ELECTIONS AND APPOINTMENTS |
Section 1. The
Master, the Senior and Junior Wardens, the Treasurer and Secretary shall be elected by
ballot in conformity with the Constitution of the Grand Lodge; also one Trustee shall be
elected each year for a term of three years in conformity with Article 5, Section 5.010,
Subsection 2. The other officers shall be appointed by the Master, except the Junior
Deacon who may be appointed by the Senior Warden. |
Article III |
MEETINGS OF THE LODGE |
| Section 1. The Stated Communications of this Lodge
shall be held on the FIRST MONDAY of each month at the hour of 12:00 NOON, unless that
Monday is a Federally recognized national holiday, in which case the Lodge will be dark
and the Stated Communications shall be held on the following Monday. |
| Section 2. Special Communications may be called at
the will and pleasure of the Master. |
| Section 3. No Communications other than Masonic
Funerals and installations of elected officers shall be held on Sunday. |
Article IV |
INITIATION AND MEMBERSHIP |
Section 1. All
petitions for initiation or affiliation must be signed by the petitioner and be recommend
by two members, in good standing, of the Lodge. Every such petition shall be
referred to a committee of three, whose duty it shall be to report thereon at the next
Stated Communication, (unless further time be granted) when the applicant may be balloted
for and be received or rejected, or the ballot may postponed until the ensuing Stated
Communications, as the Lodge may determine. Fees must accompany the petitions. |
Section 2. If an
applicant elected to receive the degrees in this Lodge, does not come forward to be
initiated within three months thereafter, the fee shall be forfeited, unless the Lodge
shall otherwise direct. |
Section 3. Every
person raised to the degree of Master Mason in, or elected a member of the Lodge, shall
sign its by-laws thereof. |
Article V |
THE TREASURER |
Section 1. The
Treasurer shall receive all money from the Secretary, shall keep an accurate and just
account thereof, and shall pay the same out only upon an order signed by the Master and
countersigned by the Secretary. He shall, at the Stated Communications of the Lodge
in JANUARY of each year, submit a report in full, of the monetary transactions of the
Lodge. The Lodge may also, at any time when considered necessary, cause him to
present an account of his receipts and disbursements and of the amount of funds on hand. |
Section 2. The
Treasurer shall deposit the receipts of the Lodge in a Bank Account in a Bank designated
by the Lodge. |
Section 3. He
shall, if required by the Lodge, execute a good and sufficient bond to the Lodge for the
faithful performance of his duties. |
Article VI |
THE SECRETARY |
Section 1. The
Secretary shall keep a faithful record of all proceedings proper to be written, shall
transmit a copy of the same to the Grand Lodge when required, shall keep a separate
account for each member of the Lodge, shall report at the Stated Communication in January
the amounts of money due by each, shall receive all monies due the Lodge and pay the same
to the Treasurer. He shall also make semi-annual reports to the Lodge in writing at
the Stated Communications of JUNE and JANUARY of each year, showing all monies received and
disbursed and balance on hand, and shall perform such other duties as may properly pertain
to his office. |
Section 2. He shall
receive for his services, such compensation as the Lodge may direct. |
Section 3. He
shall, if required by the Lodge, execute a good and sufficient bond to the Lodge for the
faithful performance of this duties. |
Article VII |
TYLER |
Section 1. The
Tyler in addition to necessary duties of this office, shall serve all notices and
summonses, and perform such other services as may be required of him by the Lodge. |
Section 2. He shall
receive Ten Dollars ($10.00) per meeting for his services. |
Article VIII |
TRUSTEES |
Section 1. There
shall be three (3) Trustees. Each year, elected at the Annual Communication of the
Lodge, there shall be elected in the same manner as the other officers are elected, ONE
TRUSTEE, who shall serve for THREE YEARS, and should a vacancy occur by death,
deprivation, or removal from office, said vacancy shall be filled as provide in accordance
with ARTICLE 5, SECTION 5.244 of the Grand Lodge Code. |
Section 2. The Board of Trustee shall enter upon the discharge of their duties at the same time that
the other officers are installed. The Secretary of the Lodge shall be ex-officio
Secretary of the Board. |
Section 3. The
Board of Trustees will act as the business agents of the Lodge. They have charge of
the finances of the Lodge, and in behalf of and in the name of the lodge, sign, execute,
seal, acknowledge and deliver all contracts, notes and other instruments in writing
appertaining to the Lodge. |
Section 4. The
Board of Trustees shall make its annual report at the Stated Communication in JANUARY, or
oftener if required by the Lodge. |
Section 5. Bonds
for the Trustees, if any are required, shall be equal, the amount of the Bond to be
determined by the Lodge. |
Section 6. In the
case of any of the Trustees thus elected should habitually neglect to attend to the duties
of such office, or should absent himself from the State for over three months, his office
may be declared vacant by vote of the lodge and the remainder of this term to be filled as
provided in accordance with ARTICLE 5, SECTION 5.244 of the Grand Lodge Code. |
Article IX |
FEES |
Section 1. The
initiation fee for the three degrees in this Lodge shall be One Hundred Fifty Dollars
($150.00) and this amount shall accompany the petition. |
Article X |
DUES |
Section 1. The dues of each member of this Lodge shall be Forty Dollars ($40.00) per year, plus Grand
Lodge Per Capita Fee. The Per Capita Fee to be determined by the Grand Lodge.
The entire amount is due January 1st of each year, except in the case of new members who's
dues shall be pro-rated from the date of signing the By-Laws for the remainder of the
year. Life Membership members are exempt from any Grand Lodge assessments.
The cost of Life membership is 21 times Lodge Dues, plus 21 times Grand Lodge assessment. |
Section 2. A member
of the Lodge against whom charges are not pending and whose dues and indebtedness to the
Lodge are paid may withdraw from membership by presenting a written application therefore
at a Stated Communication. The Lodge shall grant the request of the Brother by
dropping his name from the rolls and his membership shall be terminated. |
Section 3. Any
member who shall have been suspended for non-payment of his dues shall be restored
to membership upon the payment of all arrearages, except a member standing suspended for
non-payment of his dues for over five years must petition for reinstatement. The
petition to be referred to an investigating committee and if the report of the committee
is favorable the member may be restored by a majority vote of the members present at a
Stated Communication. |
Article XI |
COMMITTEES |
Section 1. The
Master, Senior and Junior Wardens shall constitute a charity committee with power to draw
upon the Treasurer for any amount not exceeding ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) at any time
for the relief of distressed worthy Brother, his wife, widow or orphan(s). |
Article XII |
REPRESENTATIVES TO GRAND LODGE |
Section 1. The
Master, Senior and Junior Wardens, and such other representatives shall be authorized by
the Lodge to attend the Annual Communications of the Grand Lodge, shall receive such sum
as the Lodge may direct to assist in defraying the expenses of such. |
Article XIII |
JEWELS |
Section 1. Any
Master Mason, in good standing, in Daylite Lodge No. 44 F. & A. M. and having been a
Master Mason in this or any other Lodge or Lodges, for TWENTY-FIVE consecutive years or
longer, shall be presented with a jewel by the Lodge in commemoration of thereof.
Said jewel to denote such period of service. |
Article XIV |
REVEALING THE TRANSACTIONS OF THE LODGE |
Section 1. When a
candidate for initiation or affiliation is accepted or rejected, or a Brother reprimanded
or expelled, no member or visitor shall reveal either directly of indirectly, to any
person, any transaction which may have taken place on the subject, nor shall any
proceeding of the Lodge, not proper to be made public, be discussed outside thereof, under
penalty of reprimand, suspension or expulsion as the Lodge may determine. |

Article XVI |
OF AMENDMENTS |
| Section 1. These by-laws may be amended or revised
at any Stated Communication by vote of Two-Thirds of the members present, providing
that notice of such amendments shall have been given at the Stated Communication next
preceding; until all members of the Lodge are duly notified of its adoption, approved by
the Grand Lodge or Grand Master and until such approval shall have been transmitted to the
Grand Lodge. |
